Carlos Velázquez Santillanes

Coordinator-General

Carlos holds a degree in Economics from Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Monterrey. He is a professional with extensive experience in the sector of financial services, having worked mainly in agricultural and agro-industry projects and helping to develop and promote both SMEs and large companies in Mexico. Since 2018, he has been the Coordinator-General at the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology of the state government of Jalisco.

The overall goal of SICyT is to create enabling conditions to foster regional development through innovation and the advancement of higher education, science and technology in the state of Jalisco. Among other specific goals, SICyT:

  • Promotes the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, seeking to encourage people, communities and organizations to engage in initiatives that contribute to solving economic and social challenges
  • Seeks to strengthen scientific and technological capabilities to increase the competitiveness of productive sectors
  • Devotes efforts to support and increase the coverage of higher and technological education in the state
