Juan has studied Pedagogy from the Universidad Panamericana, holds a Diploma in Management of Educational Centers from the ICAMI Institute of Management of Educational Centers, and studied at the Pan-American Institute of Senior Business Management. He has been General Director of Colegio Altamira, AC; General Director of Higher Education of the State of Jalisco; and General Director of the Technological System of Jalisco.

The Secretariat of Education of the State of Jalisco, is the agency in charge of undertaking and conducting education as a way of wellbeing and development in Jalisco. It seeks to provide and monitor the provision of educational services in the state, with the exception of higher education. The importance and transcendence of its functions, as well as the magnitude of its task, implies enormous challenges and the application of a large part of the state's resources.
