Name
Ireland/British Columbia Partnership Day
Date
Tuesday, June 28, 2022
Time
8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (PDT)
Description

Join the large post-secondary education delegation from Ireland for a full day of partnership and exchange discussions and both presentations and networking. The higher education system in Ireland has recently undergone a shift wherein polytechnics and institutes of technology have combined to form regional Technological Universities, which has great significance for trades and vocational training as well as engagement with industry and the economy. The Technological Universities are meant to address the social and economic needs of their regions and to engage in industry-focused research, with an emphasis on science and technology programs that are vocationally and professionally oriented. Ireland in many ways is a key model for BC to evolve its WIL, apprenticeship and vocational and trades training practices, and the Irish institutions remain very willing partners for expanded or new relationships and joint programming with British Columbia.  This event will be of interest to all types of post-secondary institutions in BC. Education Ireland will sponsor this delegation on its return visit to BC, to the BC International Education Week, as well as to a series of institutional visits.
