Description

More than 50% of Canada's international students come from just two countries, India and China. This session explores how global student service providers, such as LanguageCert, can help institutions diversify the countries, fields, levels of study, and locations of study for their international student population. We'll discuss direct marketing strategies for niche audiences, share findings from the LanguageCert scholarship program piloted in the USA, and share upcoming plans to launch a Canadian program. Coast Mountain College will share its experience leveraging the LanguageCert network to enhance its international student diversity. In addition, they will discuss their successes and challenges in building a diverse student body as a smaller and rural institution and offer practical advice for institutions looking to do the same. Additionally, we will delve into the benefits of incorporating employer-aligned certifications into academic programs to improve students' career readiness and demonstrate the relevance of their programs to the job market. Attendees will leave the session with a deeper understanding of how global student service providers and sought-after industry certifications can help diversify their international student population, as well as practical tips and best practices for building similar programs.
