Jean-Philippe Tachdjian (BA [Political Science], McGill University, 1991; LLB, Université de Montréal, 1994; JD, York University, 1995) joined Global Affairs Canada in 1997. He now serves as Executive Director of the International Education Division, having served previously as Deputy Director responsible for Education marketing between 2005 and 2011. Prior to this assignment, he was Director of the Investor Services and the Investment Promotion Divisions, as well as Deputy Director for Trade Strategy and officer in the Oceans, Environment and Economic Law Division and the Middle East relations Division. Jean-Philippe has held several posts abroad, serving at the Canadian Embassies in Cairo (Egypt), Washington DC (USA) and Amman (Jordan) where he was Senior Trade Commissioner responsible for Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria. He has received the Canadian Foreign Service Award in 2010, as well as Ministerial Awards for Excellence in 1999 and 2007 and a Deputy Minister's Special Mention Award in 2017.
Mr. Tachdjian is married to Aline Gumusoglu and they have three children (Shatine, Décile and Lodas).
