María Adriana Aguilera Arrieta

Born in Mexico City, María Adriana holds a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and a Postgraduate Degree in International Cooperation from the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain. The Mexican Institute for Critical Studies awarded her both a Master's Degree and a Doctorate Degree in Critical Theory. Before collaborating with the University of Guanajuato, she worked for the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Organization of American States coordinating scientific and technical cooperation projects with Caribbean countries. She has worked at the University of Guanajuato for more than 25 years, holding various academic and administrative positions. Since November 2023, she has served as the Director of Internationalization.

Ofelia Cervantes

Dr. Ofelia Cervantes Villagómez is currently, Executive Director of the Program for the Internationalization of the Curricula for the Americas (PIC Americas), a COIL based program managed by the Mexican Association for International Education (AMPEI).
She served as president of the Mexican Society of Artificial Intelligence and president of AMPEI. Over a decade, as Dean of International Affairs at Universidad de las Américas Puebla, Mexico she developed strategic alliances with HEIs with international recognition and founded the International Center for Language and Culture for teaching Spanish to international students.
In addition, she has 39 years of experience as teacher and researcher at UDLAP and has been a consultant in Data Science, Knowledge Technologies, Semantic Analysis, Social Networks, Distributed Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Natural Language Processing and Smart Cities. She has taught several courses and has numerous publications on these topics. She has directed research projects funded by CONACyT and other international organizations. She has been invited as a visiting researcher in France, Canada, Spain, China and Uruguay.
Dr. Cervantes has been Honorary Consul of France in Puebla, Mexico, since 2003. Due to her academic and professional career, Dr. Cervantes has been recognized in Mexico as an influential leader in International Education.

Having obtained a first degree in International Relations at the University of Valle de Atemajac, she received a Master’s degree in Social Sciences at the University of Guadalajara. As part of her postgraduate program, she completed a research stay at the University of Saskatchewan with the support of the Emerging Leaders of the Americas Program; as well as a summer stay at the Xi’an Jiaotong - Liverpool University in Suzhou, China. In 2021, she obtained her second Master’s degree, this time in Global Politics and Transpacific Studies at the University of Guadalajara, with a dissertation focused on the experiences of Mexican female students in China. Her research topics are: Canadian Studies, China Studies, 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, National and City Branding, Experiences of Students and Professors in International Mobility, as well as Gender Studies applied to International Relations.

Born in France. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Foreign Languages and Civilizations from University Paris 8. The University of Paris Descartes (now Université Paris Cité) awarded her a Master's degree in International Cooperation in Education. During her master's studies, she had the opportunity to do an internship at the International Institute for Educational Planning IIEP-UNESCO, based in Paris.
She has been collaborating with the International Office at the University of Guanajuato for more than 18 years, where she has held various positions, She currently manages the international projects and partnerships team.
