Currently serving as the Assistant to the President for International Relations at Chiang Mai University, she is responsible for fostering global collaboration and international affairs. She also holds a position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Biology and Diagnostic Sciences at the university's Faculty of Dentistry.

Dr. Buranaphatthana earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Oral Biology from the University of Washington, Seattle, where she was a Magnuson Scholar and received the SunStar Preventive Dentistry Award. She graduated with First Class Honors from the Faculty of Dentistry at Chiang Mai University, where she was recognized as the Outstanding Student of the Year and received a national award for outstanding dental students from the Crown Princess of Thailand.

Her research interests include international relations theory and analysis, the ASEAN community in the contemporary world, comparative foreign policy, Europe in world politics, and sustainable development in international relations.

Dr. Pongruk graduated from Chiang Mai Medical School and then received his Ph.D. in pharmacology/toxicology from The Ohio State University.

He began his career as an instructor in the Forensic Medicine Department at Chiang Mai University and was appointed head of the department in 1995. Over the years, he has held various administrative positions within the university system, including Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Education, Associate Dean for the Planning and Personnel section, Associate Dean for Research, and Director of the Medical Center of Excellence at the Faculty of Medicine.

Dr. Pongruk later served as Vice President for CMU Policy, Planning, and Budgeting, and subsequently as a Vice President responsible for University Strategy and Finance.

During his ten-year tenure as a Vice President at Chiang Mai University, he chaired the Thai Universities Vice President Consortium for Strategy and Budgeting, as well as the Thai Universities Vice President Consortium for Finance. Dr. Pongruk was appointed President of Chiang Mai University on July 25, 2022.

He has served as the Secretary and member of the Electrical Engineering Academic Network Committee (EENET), an external expert for Master's and Doctoral examinations, and a consultant to the Alternative Energy Institute of Thailand Foundation.

His expertise spans measurement and analysis of energy consumption in buildings and industrial plants, organization of energy management systems, analysis and design of protection and lightning protection systems in electrical power systems, and risk assessment of electrical and communication systems affected by lightning. Additionally, he analyzes energy systems such as energy storage, solar, hydro, wind, and waste energy. He is also the Director of the Talent Mobility Center, involved in personnel development in the Eastern Special Development Zone (EEC HDC), and serves on the Ang Thong Provincial Board of Education.
