Description

This joint presentation by Camosun College and the University of Victoria highlights the importance of fostering a sense of belonging throughout the student journey.

Camosun will share strategies to create a welcoming environment for prospective students through authentic stories, personalized interactions, and digital tools. These efforts build trust and connection, ensuring a smooth transition from inquiry to enrollment while laying the foundation for student success.

UVic will share their new progression program, UVic Bound, which has proven to lead to a notable increase in course registration. UVic Bound is unique because it provides opportunities for students to connect with campus support services before they begin their studies and blends social connection with pre-arrival information in a single program. The program’s relational aspect is key, with student leaders actively involved in all events, sharing their personal experiences and perspectives on specific topics, making it much more than typical information sessions. The high touch engagement and mentorship that connected applicants to current students in the UVic Bound program increased engagement with applicants to enhance progression to registrant.

Both institutions emphasize collaboration between recruitment and student services to showcase student support programs, enhance marketing, and demonstrate commitment to well-being. This alignment fosters belonging and achieves institutional goals by improving recruitment, retention, and satisfaction.
