The Indo-Pacific region will play a critical role in shaping Canada’s future over the next half-century. Encompassing 40 economies, over four billion people (with over two million students in ASEAN alone) and $47.19 trillion in economic activity, it is the world’s fastest growing-region and home to six of Canada’s top 13 trading partners. The Indo-Pacific region represents significant opportunities for growing the economy as well as opportunities for new and enhanced academic collaboration throughout the region, from study abroad and exchange to TNE, research, capacity building and new and innovative forms of cooperation that will allow an embedded Canadian presence in the region for decades to come. Two experts will discuss the parameters of the strategy and the potential for our academic engagement.
