How is BCCIE contributing to environmental sustainability?
How is BCCIE contributing to environmental sustainability?
BCCIE’s role in contributing to environmental sustainability extends far beyond BCIEW, but we are focusing on several key initiatives to further our commitment during the conference:
- In preparation for BCIEW 2026, we are refraining from printing whenever possible.
- We have optimized our website and mobile app to give you an easy and efficient digital experience, making paper unnecessary.
- We are not using plastic sleeves around name badges to limit plastic waste.
- To help reduce the carbon footprint impact of the conference, we have opted to make certain mealtimes meatless, including the morning and afternoon refreshment breaks.
- To reduce the number of vehicles we need to get to Kelowna, we will be carpooling with staff members.

You can also play a vital role in contributing to environmental sustainability at BCIEW 2026.
- Consider using more sustainable methods of travel, such as a bus or carpooling with others to reduce your carbon footprint. We also invite you to share your eco-friendly travel experiences on social media using the hashtag #TravelwithCANIE.
- Reuse! Bring a reusable water bottle and coffee mug to reduce the number of plastic bottles and single-use cups.
- If you are a sponsor or exhibitor, we encourage you to drastically reduce the amount of swag you distribute, or even better, not have any. Swag is often wasted and ends up in landfills, leading to negative environmental impacts.
- While at our host venue, please comply with all recycling and waste disposal signage.
