Description

International students often face significant challenges in navigating the complex laws and plethora of federal and provincial immigration programs in Canada. Further compounding their struggles are the abrupt policy shifts and frequent regulatory changes that leave international students vulnerable to confusion and misinformation. Efficient access to accurate and reliable immigration information is therefore critical.

This session will showcase our project to scale up our immigration advising services for international students. The focus will be on the development and application of our web-based resource tools in delivering novel solutions to immigration advising. The session will provide participants with an overview of the principal categories and classes of temporary and permanent immigration pathways, as we demonstrate the web-based resource tool’s design structure, features, and functionality.

Meanwhile, we will also analyze the feedback from key stakeholders regarding the usability and performance of the web-based resource tool from a user perspective as well as share directions for future work. To conclude the session, participants will be able to engage in a peer discussion regarding the broader application of technologies in enhancing student advising practices.
