Supporting International Students on the IRCC Rollercoaster: A Service to Help Ready Graduating Students for the New Post-Graduation Work Permit Language Test Requirements
Date & Time
Thursday, February 19, 2026, 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Description

International students in Canada have faced ongoing IRCC policy change, creating stress and uncertainty as they adapt their studies and post-graduation plans, and increasing the need for targeted student supports. A recent challenge is the requirement for all graduating students to take a designated language proficiency test and achieve CLB 7 or above to be eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). To support students, we developed the PGWP Ready: English Refresher and Test Preparation Workshop Series, a free program offered before graduation and the PGWP application process. Our presentation will highlight this initiative, share early feedback, and invite discussion on other institutional strategies to help international students navigate regulatory changes.
