International student conversion, transition, and settlement programming at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) is being reimagined through a dynamic, student-centered approach using the Goin’ App. Adopted in Spring 2025, UFV has developed an integrated strategy that leverages this social media platform to foster early engagement, peer-to-peer interaction, and community-building—starting from the moment students receive their offer. Presenters will share how UFV adopted a systems approach employing their International Student Integration Plan (ISIP) to map and plan student engagement across the campus and community to ensure a successful student journey from initial contact to post-graduation.
This interactive session will showcase how UFV empowers current students to manage and moderate the app, making it more relevant, engaging, and responsive to the evolving needs of incoming international students. Presenters will walk participants through the app’s role across key stages: pre-arrival, arrival, and early settlement. Special emphasis will be placed on how student leadership and peer involvement enhance the app’s effectiveness and create a sense of belonging from day one.
Additionally, the session will explore how data analytics are used to monitor engagement, optimize usage, and improve the overall student experience. Attendees will leave with actionable insights into how technology, student leadership, and data-driven strategies can transform international student support.
