As part of BC International Education Week and our Mexico/Canada Forum and Networking Event (June 28-29), we will be welcoming a large delegation from Mexico, including the Minister of Education from Guanajuato, Jorge Enrique Hernández Meza, and Minister of Education from Jalisco, Juan Carlos Flores Miramontes.

He implement the State Educational Project "RECREA" Educación para Refundar 2040, which promotes the development of students and teachers as agents of change, while articulating the work of parents, academia, civil society organizations and businesses to transform Jalisco through education.

Mr. Jorge Enrique Hernández Meza is an industrial engineering. He holds a MBA degree, as well master’s degree in administrative engineering and quality. He graduated from TEC BEYOND innovation program (Tec de Monterrey), and has a long professional career in education.

As General Director of the Institute of Financing and Information for Education, “EDUCAFIN”, for over 14 years, he held the Second Vice Presidency of the Board of Directors of the Pan-American Association of Educational Credit Institutes (ÁPICE). The promotion of entrepreneurship, public and diplomatic relations, innovate in social programs and boost the empowerment of the youth are the pillars of its management.

He is responsible for the Educational Policy in Higher Secondary and Higher Education and the coordination of the Decentralized Public Organizations in the State.

He is the Coordinator-General at the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology of the state of Jalisco since 2018.

Griselda de la Torre joined the University of Guadalajara (UDG) in july 2019. First, she held the position of Responsible for International Programmes in the Coordination for Internationalization. Since july 2020, she is the Head of the Unit of Internationals Affairs. She holds a Bachelors Degree in International Affairs at the Universidad Anáhuac del Sur, in Mexico City and a Masters Degree in Applied Public Management at the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM). Nowadays, Ms. De la Torre is in charge of the student mobility programmes of the University of Guadalajara (incoming and outgoing). She is interested in promoting international cooperation, bilateral and multilateral cooperation projects and particularly in subjects regarding institutions’ challenges for internationalization and International networks.

More recently he worked as executive secretary of the councilman Antonio Navarro Padilla in the administration of San Francisco del Rincón, Guanajuato.

He currently serves as Executive Secretary of the General Director of JuventudEsGTO where he is committed to the personal, professional and international development of the youth of the state of Guanajuato.

Dr. Elías Ledesma Orozco is a mechanical engineer from the University of Guanajuato (Mexico), with a Master and Doctorate degree in the same field. He has been a Research Professor at the University of Guanajuato (UG) since 1995.

He earned a postdoc from the University of California (UC), USA.

Dr. Ledesma has lectured at conferences in Mexico, Japan, U.S. and Taiwan. He has promoted international agreements such as the Double Degree Program of the Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering with Hiroshima U, and the Trilateral Program of scholarships with Nagaoka U and Topy Industries, all in Japan.

He has served as a Coordinator of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and is current Director of the International Relations and Academic Collaboration.
