In this session, Nandita Adhikary, an international student who recently completed a Master’s of Human Rights and Social Justice joins Internationalization and Intercultural scholar, Dr. Kyra Garson, to share their research exploring the current tensions in Canadian Higher Education related to the intersections of Indigenization, internationalization, and equity. Nandita’s 2024 Master’s thesis titled Addressing the Contestation Between Indigenization and Internationalization: Adopting Transculturality in Canadian Universities (An International Student Perspective) Policy Brief Analysis and Kyra’s chapter in Shahrzad Kamyab and Rosalind Latiner Raby’s 2023 book, Unintended Consequences of Internationalization in Higher Education: Comparative International Perspectives on the Impacts of Policy and Practice will provide the foundations for their discussion on the current challenges facing students, educators, and institutions as well as the opportunities for a different future.
