Description

In a rather uncertain, complicated, and dynamic geo-political and policy landscape, education recruitment agents are vital to the success of the international education sector more than ever before. With domestic recruitment declining amidst major events such as the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath, alongside geo-political instability and recent IRCC policy updates, students and institutions alike need constant assistance and advice to strategically navigate through the turbulence. Agents have proven to be strong partners in most situations, helping students in-market and keeping institutions informed of on-the-ground realities. However, there are risks associated with working with agents, often surrounding lack of quality control mechanisms and standard, documented ways of working.  In the absence of a formal,  provincially, or nationally-recognized policy on usage of agents, this session aims to provide institutions with best practices guidelines and information for how to work effectively and efficiently with agents, ensuring that their expectations match with realistic results whether they’re new to the practice or well-seasoned. This session will highlight practical examples of successful working relationships from both an institutional and agency perspective, as well as delve into the challenges to provide actionable advice and solutions.
