Description

We work in an academic environment, and collectively strive to ensure that the international student experience in BC is a positive one. The holistic experience of the international student is often approached in a clinical way, in terms of services and orientation. Through the lens of the arts – literature, music, fine arts – the Arts Forum will highlight the varied experience of newcomers to Canada, racialized Canadians, visible minorities, and Indigenous communities. Through artistic expression they have explored a sense of otherness, and adapting or not to new customs and practices. The Arts Forum will offer a new lens through which to view the experience of international student populations in the hope that insights from the arts world can help international education practitioners support their students’ journeys.

The Arts Forum will be moderated by the Director of Public Engagement and Learning at the Vancouver Art Gallery, Sirish Rao.
