The next generations of professionals must be ready to tackle global markets’ political, economic, and social challenges. Internationalization of the curricula has become an important requirement to prepare them. COIL offers a great mechanism for accomplishing this goal. Creating an institutional COIL program is a challenge that requires knowledge, commitment, and support from institutional authorities to engage, train, and support faculty and students to benefit from an enriching and successful intercultural educational experience.
In this session, key issues required to launch and consolidate an institutional COIL program with the support of experts will be presented. In particular, how to identify COIL teaching partners, prepare faculty for the experience, and support them during the implementation of their COIL courses, as well as how to integrate the COIL program in the institutional structure. Best practices from the PIC Americas will be shared. Testimonies of successful experiences will be also presented.
