In recent years, Mexico Western/Bajio region has noticeably strengthened its relationship with the Province of British Columbia through a number of platforms and activities. Coupled with evolving collaboration, a number of MOUs have been forged, including those between BC Council for International Education (BCCIE) and Jalisco and Guanajuato.

This session will be lead by Canada´s Ambassador to Mexico, Mr. Graeme Clark, who will provide brief opening remarks on Canada-Mexico relationships on CUSMA; human capital and education. Mexican key stakeholders from the states of Aguascalientes, Guanajuato and Jalisco will present updates on their postsecondary collaborations with Canada, prior to and during the global pandemic. Some of the programs offered for students and teachers to study and conduct research in Canada include: scholarships and student loans for postgraduate and bachelor degrees, ESL, FSL, TESOL, short mobility programs and  Mitacs research fellowships.
