Fazela HANIFF immigrated to Canada in 1974 from Guyana, lived in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for three years, then relocated to South Africa from 1994 to 2012 and returned to Canada in 2012.
Fazela is an Anti-Racism, Diversity & Inclusion and Human Resources Strategist to higher education, corporate and public institutions, and a resident consultant at ACEI- Global Consulting Group. Ms. HANIFF completed her Human Resources Management studies at Ryerson University, Higher Education Management from the University of the Witwatersrand, Bachelor of Business Administration from Yorkville University and Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace certificate at ESSEC Business School.
In 2006 Fazela was the first woman elected president of IEASA, the International Education Association of South Africa, when she was the Director of the Wits International office at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. In 2010 she received an award in recognition of “Exemplary Leadership as IEASA President.”
She has contributed widely to the internationalization dialogue, outlining the value of understanding international cultures and inclusion. She has also contributed to international higher education and the internationalization dialogue via presentations and workshops via IEASA, AIEA, EAIE, APAIE, IIE, NIEA and NAFSA.
Fazela currently lives in Canada.
