In 2020, higher education institutions faced new challenges that affected how privilege operated in the classroom. Initiatives and new resources were introduced to maximize student success. While some programs targeted incoming cohorts as a group, smaller, more individualized strategies aimed to reach those with more specific needs. Shailoo Bedi (Director, Student Academic Success) from UVIC, and Cyndi Banks (VP, Academics), Seyed Hosseinifar (Learning for Success), and Meghan Barclay (Manager, Learning Success) from UCWEST will discuss programs developed and adapted during the pandemic to support student learning and success in the virtual age. The concepts behind these projects, technologies utilized, goals, and results will be covered in detail.
